Buddy - Adopted 12/6/01

Buddy was adopted by a loving family in Waukesha, WI. He has an 8 year old human sister and a 10 year old human brother!

Here is what they wrote about Buddy's first night with them:

Just a note to say thank for all you did for us. Our first night is wonderful. My husband, thinks Buddy is wonderful and a beautiful dog. We are all amazed somebody would have abandoned him like that. Buddy actually has been quite busy being petted by four different people tonight. He even has gone to our patio door when he needs to go to the bathroom. Hasn't barked outside, I went out with him alot tonight and the dogs were barking next door, people walking by and not one little bark. However, I went in the basement to look at my emails and he was barking upstairs for me to come up, so I did.

I guess one of the things I miss the most is the unconditional love a dog gives, no matter what he is doing he is never too busy or cranky. Parents have unconditional love for their kids, kids love their parents, but kids are sometimes unappreciative of things, cranky, and some times too busy. Dogs are never too busy to come by you and wag their tail. Buddy will have a busy weekend. I have had five phone calls so far, people wanting to come over and see the new COLLIE in the neighborhood. Cassie and I took Buddy for a walk and then spent some time brushing him, just so he gets used to us and develops trust in us. He didn't mind it so much but he had other plans, like chasing the cat, who by the way, rubbed up against Buddy for the first time. We will keep the name Buddy, because he is just a big buddy to everyone. Even in the backyard, he followed us around over and over.

Thank you again, without your help we would not have been blessed with such a Beautiful, Elegant, and Loving Dog. I can feel my contentment with my dog already, the sense of love, safety and companionship.

Latest Updates:

I was just scouting out your web site because I really wanted to send you guys a note of thank you as I did to Jeff and Shelley for our blessing when I read Buddy's adoption story and it made me want to cry.  Since I have gotten Buddy I feel "weird", happy to have been blessed and I think some emotions over losing my last collie "Chance of a Lifetime". I have been amazed by this dog...never messed, never chewed on anything but his rawhide bone, gentle and loving.  I keep thinking someone is going to come at my door knocking and saying this is really my dog that I lost and searched the world for and you have him and I want him back.

Buddy is really such a treasure.  Since he has been here I am amazed at his stride, his personality and his love for my family and my kids.  He went in Cassie's room this morning and was giving her kisses in her face to wake her up for school which is unlike Buddy because he is not a licker.  I also am a girl scout leader with 27 girls in my troop that meets at school.  All my girls remember Chance and when they found out I got a new dog they wanted to see him, so I ran home to get him and bring him back to school.  Buddy didn't mind at all 27 girls trying to pet him and walk him and hug him.   His tail wagged the whole time.  The parents were amazed at such a dog and such an organization like yours and I am sure you will be getting people looking at your web site as I have had many inquiries about a place like your who rescues such a wonderful breed.  People around here are just amazed at the Collie breed and probably that is because Chance was such a wonderful dog and a model for his breed.

I have been doing everything to Buddy just to check him out.  Brushing him, brushing his teeth, getting in his face when he is chewing on a bone, takiing his bone from him and nothing....nothing he will do to hurt anything.  My children screaming and fighting even doesn't affect him, my sons coronet playing doesn't affect him, flute lessons don't affect...IT IS JUST UNBELIEVABLE!  I think he know he is loved because he trusts each and everyone of us.  Ryan said tonight...I think the dog is getting too much attention, which of course is like a child, you can never get too much love!  Ryan is just jealous because he doesn't want to share the dog.  There was a fight two nights ago...my daughter crying, tears coming down, she said "Mom, I don't want Ryan to have anything to do with Buddy because I want Buddy to love me more than Ryan".

Our family loves this dog more than anyone could imagine and it has been only 4 1/2 days. I just wish to thank you for you and your organization.  Again, I have a home with a wonderful yard and a wonderful dog to lay by the tulips in the spring while the kids practice baseball and run around with an awesome dog watching and playing with them.  The kids love to be herded and have learned how to run so Buddy will actually have to work to get at them.

Buddy is a perfect legacy to your organization! If you ever need assistance for a abandoned collie please let me know as my doors are always open to you.  I feel such admiration for your organization and would do anything to help in my means.
