Sugar - Adopted 2/16/02

Sugar has been adopted by a great family in Wisconsin and will have a new Sheltie brother!

Here is a letter Sugar sent after his first night:

Hi there: Well, I spent my first night with my new family including my Sheltie brother, Kirby. I was very fearful at first but Mom stayed with me all night on the couch and we snuggled. I think she loves me. Kirby, I'm not so sure about. He acts like he wants to play and then he growls at me. I think he's just trying to show me he's boss even though he is a little guy. Mom is feeding me very well and she gave me a bath and groomed me. I'm quite beautiful, actually. We all went to the vet yesterday and I got my vaccinations updated and had a heartworm test and my nails clipped. Quite an ordeal but they seem very nice there. I'm getting my license today. Mom and Dad took me and Kirby for a long walk on the golf course yesterday and we ran and played and had a great time. Meg is Mom and Dad's daughter and she lives here, too. Her boyfriend, Tom, is nice and I think I might like him. Jeff and Michelle and Abby and Brodie came to visit at my new home and it was like a 4 ring circus in the family room. It was fun! We all went shopping at the Dog Store and I got a new collar and a soft bed of my own. We also had to get a BIG water dish because Kirby and I need lots of clean water. Please tell my foster Mom thank you very much for your loving care. I think I'll be fine here and will live a long happy life with my new family.

Sugar is short for Brown Sugar Bear. Sugar is a sweet, beautiful neutered 1-1/2 year old male Collie who is on the small, thin side at 45 lbs. Sugar has been well cared for by his previous owner who needed to give him up due to major life changes. He was originally purchased from a shelter at 3 months old and was ill as a puppy. He was carefully nursed back to health. The only consequence of his illness is a sensitive stomach. Sugar needs to be on a quality diet. Sugar has a gentle, playful nature and he loves to play with other dogs and fetch tennis balls and cloth frisbees. He is a cautious boy, who takes a while to get to know people. Sugar would do well in a quieter home with older children. He is good in the car, good with cats, up to date on all vaccinations, and is housebroken. Sugar was well loved and cared for by his previous owner and needs a new family to do the same.

Sugar was fostered in Forest Lake, MN.
