Teddie

Teddie is a six-seven year old sable headed white
female with a sable patch on her rump. She came into
rescue from a Shelter in Wisconsin, who got
her as a stray in early September.
Teddie is a couch potato who loves being indoors by
her family, and is the perfect companion. She is
quiet, well-behaved, and extraordinarily
affectionate. Teddie generally will not enter
another room unless she is invited, and prefers her
vantage point on the couch, or a nice, thick, cushy
bed on the floor. She is housebroken, leash-trained,
and likes to accompany her family wherever they go.
Teddie enjoys her walks, but since she came into the
shelter underweight and lacking in any kind of
muscle mass whatsoever, she needs a gradual exercise
regimen to build up stamina. Upon arising in the
morning, or from a long nap, she is stiff, and the
right shoulder appears to be mildly arthritic.
Teddie is a dominant, but not obnoxious, girl. She
will scrap with another dog if they start the fight,
or if she perceives that another dog or cat is
invading her "space" and getting more attention than
she is. However, she does love the company of other
dogs to play with, and will routinely go into a play
bow, or roll and wiggle around on her back on the
grass. A home near a dog park where she can
socialize would be ideal for her. She listens well,
and if she is rebuked, she will approach you very
hesitantly, her head down, eyes squinted into little
slits, and will lay down on her side - indications
that she was disciplined rather harshly in her
previous home.
Just recently spayed, heartworm negative, and
current on her vaccinations, Teddie is in good
health, although she will need proper conditioning
and exercise to build up her musculature and
increase her stamina. The front teeth, on both
bottom and top, are very worn and tiny, and would
seem to be discolored from nibbling or chewing on
the metal in a fence or crate.
Children are an unknown commodity, and while she
will greet almost anybody warmly, she does bark at
children who ride past our house on the street.
Teddie would be best placed in an adult home where
she can do what she does best - simply be a
companion. Regular trips to a dog park where she can
play and visit with other dogs is a distinct plus.
All in all, Teddie has been, hands down, the easiest
dog I have every cared for in a foster situation.
Sweet, affectionate, and gentle - the very essence
of the breed.
Teddie was fostered in Green Bay, WI.
