She came into rescue from a
shelter in Madison WI as a stray. She is a
very sweet one to two year old female smooth tri
collie. Nora'sr Collie lineage may
questionable in terms of being totally purebred,
but since not many of our Collies in need show
up with AKC papers, we wanted to help find Nora
a good home. She was malnourished and her skin
and hair were in poor shape when she came to the
shelter She was pretty sad in the shelter and
afraid of every noise there. She seemed quite
depressed in there. From the very start
she has been sweetie, happy, loving and very
much my companion. She plays with the other
Collies in my home and loves to run and chase
and pull rope with them but, she is the alpha
when there are chews or when she is up on my
bed. She seems to think that only she can be up
there at night and doesn't want to share that
special place.
She is not fond of crates, but has done well in
a small area of the house, with the other
collies, when I am not home.
Nora loves to run and runs like a deer. She was
given her name by the shelter and responded to
it from the day I brought her home. Even at the
dog park, she knew quite quickly to come when I
called her name. Nora loves to sit next
to me on the couch with her head in my lap. She
seems to prefer to be by her human person more
than the other dogs. She is potty trained for
the most part, with the exception of a couple of
accidents in the time I have had her, however it
is not unusual for a new dog to have to re-take
Potty 101 - also since she was a stray we don't
know if she'd ever lived in a house before.
It's all very confusing for these poor pups.
Nora walks ok on leash but pulls some
still. We are working on that.
Nora will make a wonderful pet for most any
loving home. Nora would do well to have a fence
for those fast runs she does. She is very smart
loves attention and will very quickly listen to
you when you tell her "no". she has not been
child tested except at the dog park but she
lives with 5 other collies and 4 cats at her
foster mom's house. Because of her
dominance issues and affection for people, she
would do well in an only dog situation or with a
submissive male dog.
