Buddy is an 8 month old, sable
smooth Collie. He is current on all vaccinations,
fully vetted and will be neutered soon. He is
fully housetrained, crates well, and gets along with his
foster mom's dogs and some cats. Buddy should not
be placed in a home with other small animals.
Buddy is approx 26" at the shoulder
and approximately 70 lbs. He is very much Collie
in personality; mouthy for attention, pokes with his
nose, play bows and has a wonderful deep collie bark and
leans into you for lovin'. For being a big boy, he
is gentle around his foster mom's children.
Buddy wants to be near a human,
loves attention, and just wants someone to stay close.
He is somewhat hand shy in that he shrinks away when
told "no" or when his foster mom reaches down to pet his
head. He likes being out doors playing with the
other dogs, but is very happy to come in and be with his
family.
Buddy is a very sweet boy. He
listens extremely well for only being 8 months old.
Buddy is very smart and hasn't exhibited any bad habits
(excluding his habit of wanting to eat his foster
family's ferret and pet rats).
Update on
Buddy:

Hi Mel &
Kim,
A quick e-mail to let you know how Buddy is doing. We
are delighted to have him as part of the family.
He graduated from dog obedience class at the Minnesota
Valley Humane Society this past week. He knows the sit,
down, stand, come and stand-down commands - all done
with rewards. He walks well on the leash, and still
loves to chew his rawhides. His barking has lessened,
and he seems to be becoming more confident.
He has always gone into his kennel well, and has had no
accidents in the house. We leave him free to roam the
house at night, and he is very well behaved.
He constantly gets compliments on what a handsome or
"pretty" dog he is when we are out walking. The best
compliment was from someone who said he was "movie star
handsome."
We still need to work on the "meet and greet" of new
people and dogs. He doesn't really jump on new people,
but just putting his paws up on you can be intimidating.
He has been to the dog park in Burnsville, and loves to
run with the other dogs. He also loves to run and play
with our son Greg when he comes over.
He is a "keeper."
