An Update on Dex from the President of MWCR:
I have to tell you all. I met Dex this weekend and he
is one of the best, most beautiful and well behaved
collies I have ever met. He is SO loving, SO sweet, so
wonderful - I have been tempted to bring him here
<wink>. When I met him he crawled up on the couch with
me and buried his head in my armpit wanting attention.
IF he could have gotten any closer he would have. He
wanted to sit on my lap and just be loved! (he is a
taller, lanky boy... I had to tell him he wasn't a lap
dog... but he wasn't hearing any of that <wink>). He is
an excellent listener, was totally fine around Cheri's 4
kitties - totally fine at Cheri's on Saturday (there
were 7 collies at her place then) AND totally fine on
Sunday at the dog park. In fact, at the dog park...he
and Jagger were off having a blast (far away). I called
for Dex and Jagger... Dex came running (Jagger finally
got the hint to follow!)... came right up and wanted
loving!
If someone wants a loving, attentive, loyal collie - one
that has young life energy, one that loves everyone,
everything - this is the dog to adopt. He was polite,
sweet and like I said... LOVES to be loved. The ONLY
thing I could even remotely say negative (and this is
really minor) was over the rawhides. Jagger kept taking
the rawhides, placing them in a pile outside... and
laying on them. Dex wanted one, Jagger wasn't hearing
of it... so Dex went and took one - didn't care if
Jagger cared or not. There was a little scuffle,
nothing major.... just a disagreement - minor at best.
THAT was it. NO aggression. NOT one mean streak in
that dogs body. In fact... Jagger, who is VERY
submissive and loves everyone as well - found Dex to be
his best buddy. They were equally suited to one
another. I didn't see ANY faults with him around the
other dogs at the dog park - and we had several dominant
boys there - but nothing out of Dex. Jeesh - now I want
to go and get him.... as I totally am infatuated with
this collie :o)
When Dex came to Madison he was dehydrated,
malnourished, depressed. (neglected !). Today - he is
very beautiful, healthy, happy and most of all - his
collie spirit is NOT broken. My personal thanks to Ron
(and Cheri) for taking care of Dex, getting him
housebroken and bringing him back to life.
