Nakita - Adopted 8/03

Nakita is a 7-8 yr old sable girl about 23" tall. Very sweet, very fat. Does not need a fence. I've had her outside my fence for a couple of hours. Just explores a bit and then lays next to the house. Lived with a 6 yr old child. No bad habits. The owner kicked her and she bit him in self-defense. (I would too!)

She doesn't have a nasty bone in her body. She is extremely overweight, needs to lose 15-20 lbs more. She's 77 lbs now, down
from 80. I bet most of her lethargy is due to the weight she's carrying around. She loves attention from me but I have to go to her. She wasn't raised with other dogs and won't come to me with all the dogs around me. She seems to like Nicki and Sam, the older dogs. When I take her outside the fence she follows me but does her own thing. She really wants to bond with someone. The surrender papers said she lived with a 6 yr old. Her leash has written on it "Nakita, I love you, Stephanie" in a child's printing. She cried for more than a day when I got her. I bet she'd be fine with cats. Doesn't have much prey drive. She doesn't bark much, only when the dogs play or I get home. No problems other
than the allergies. My vet felt that most of the lesions she has now would be healed in 2 weeks when she has a re-check scheduled.

Whoever adopts her would have to take care of her allergies but I don't think it would be much work and fairly inexpensive.

Her frill is a mass of white tight curls. Very unusual and very not correct coat but cute. She's spayed and up to date on shots.
