ROCKY - Adopted 10/03
Rocky came to us from a shelter filthy, matted and infested by fleas. We had to trim the hair on his back legs because he was so badly matted. He's now cleaned up and a much happier guy. He's 18 months old. He gets along well with other dogs and loves every person he's met so far. He needs a place to run since he's so young and exhuberant so a fenced yard would be ideal. In the house, he doesn't appear to have any bad habits and is content to lie at someone's feet. He's up-to-date on his vaccinations and is on heartworm preventative. He's a bit on the thin side at 62 lbs so is being fed puppy food until he gains a bit more weight. He's a medium sized Collie about 24 1/2" at the shoulder. He's needs a family to love him as he hasn't had much love in his life so far. He rides nicely in the car and would enjoy joining in any family activities.
July 28 Update: Rocky is learning how to
sit and down on cue and how to walk politely on
leash. At first, he had absolutely no awareness of
someone at the other end of the leash. He has also
learned that it's not polite to jump on people and
that he gets the attention he wants by sitting
rather than jumping. He is a great pupil. Rocky is
still in a juvenile chewing stage and needs to be
crated when he cannot be supervised. He will outgrow
this. In the meantime, he needs appropriate things
to chew on. He adores fuzzy, squeaky toys.
Rocky is
very
willing to learn, but needs obedience training. His
biggest issue is the mouthing but he's not bad.
Because of this, he probably wouldn't be good with
little children. Rocky is being fostered near Milwaukee, WI.
