Sam is a 1 1/2 yr old sable and white
male with a flashy white stripe on his face. He loves to
hang out with his person and play with other dogs. He
knows sit, down, stay (for a little while) and several
other commands. He's healthy, has a nice coat and is
up-to-date on necessary vaccinations. He is on
Interceptor. Sam is an owner surrender. He can be a
little shy when meeting new people but relaxes very
quickly and wants to say hello.
Sam is an extremely friendly and easy-going Collie. His
tail is almost always wagging. One requirement for his
adoptive family is that they must enjoy Collie kisses.
Sam gets along with other dogs and most likely with
cats. He loves children and adults. He would do best
with a couple of children and another dog to play with.
He is young and very active and may get himself into
trouble if he has no one to burn off energy with. He
does however play rather roughly with other dogs so
would need a doggie playmate who would not be
intimidated by being body-slammed a bit. He has
extremely good house manners and can be left loose in
the house with no worries. When he is ready to rest, his
favorite position is curled up next to someone he loves.
But be warned, he likes to sneak in a couple of Collie
kisses when you least expect it.
Sam has completely recovered from his neuter. His
appetite has gotten better. He is easily distracted when
he is eating so needs to be fed somewhere quiet so he
finishes his meals. He is a medium-sized Collie about
24" at the shoulder and should be about 55-60 lbs. He
still needs to gain about 10 lbs.
He is being fostered near Milwaukee, WI.
Update from Sam's new family:
I was just thinking about sending
you a quick note. He's doing very well. He keeps
watch over our autistic 6 year old boy, allows
Johnny all sorts of leeway with play techniques.
(We're getting better at not holding and swinging
Sam's tail as our favorite game. Sam doesn't seem
to mind, but I do.) He's learning that not all cats
like dogs. He likes his 10 minutes of brush time
every night, and he knows that there isn't room for
all three of us on the bed. So when Steve gets up
early and I get to stay in bed, he waits until Steve
gets in the shower to jump up and cuddle. Now if we
can get him to gently gain some weight, we'll all be
happy! I have an appointment for him to meet our
veterinarian. Mostly a social call to introduce
everyone without trauma.
We're very happy with Sam. He's a
good pup! Thank you for all of the work you did
with him when he was your baby. We are reaping the
rewards of all of your efforts. Feel free to call
anytime you miss the boy!
