Tess is a beautiful Sable and
White spayed female Collie that is 2 years old
and weighs about 45 lbs. She has made much progress
since arriving at her foster home.
When Tess arrived she wanted nothing
to do with being in the house. We would have to
carry her in. Once she was inside she would walk
with her entire body close to the floor. She was
nervous and scared. She hated my tile floors. And
she was frightened of the TV.
By day 2 she had ventured into
our family room and living room with some fear
not knowing what would happen once she was in.
On Day 3, I decided to start sleeping
at night next to her kennel with the door open,
in our living room and with the dog gates up so
she was limited to roam only in that room, I felt
this was important. She needed to know that we
loved her and it was a safe place she was at. She
never has come up to me and cuddled at night. She
will sleep a couple feet from me on the blankets
I set out for her. I hope to get to cuddle before
she leaves.
Well since then, her fear has
vanished and she feels more at home know. She has
ventured into each room with no fear. She even
jumped up on Rich the other morning while he was
sleeping and laid next to him. Rich was trilled,
he and my son have taken to Tess and Tess seems
to prefer them over Diana and myself. Maybe it's
men she prefers??. So she know thinks it's ok jump
on the bed. However Cody (my Collie) isn't to happy
about it. The bed has always been Cody's , so he
growled at her and I took her down. Cody is the
King around our house. He has always been the father
figure to Laddy and Katie (our other Collies).
He will go up and bump them when they get to wild
in the house , so that they stop playing. He is
always watching over those two young ones. So for
this reason I don't want to make any changes for
my fosters that would disrupt Cody, or Katie's
or Laddy's daily routine or favorite sleeping area,
eating area, etc.
So to make a long story short,
Tess is welcome to jump on the bed and nap, but
not when The "king" is resting.
I brought her to our Vet for a
check up. Her stitches (from being spayed) are
doing fine. We did give her a rabies vaccination.
He said she was a healthy Collie. She rides exceptionally
well in the car.
Now for a few more details on
Tess.
She loves to play chase me as
long as some another dog is willing to play. She
loves to play tug a war with the other dogs, using
sticks or toys.
She has never had any accidents
in our house, so I can say she is house trained.
She has no problem being in a kennel or confined
to an area while we are gone or at night. She doesn't
wine or bark. Tess isn't a barker like my other
ones. She seldom barks.
Tess loves attention, hugs and
kisses especially. She loves to be talked to. Tess
likes to wrap her little paws around your leg to
stop you from what you're doing.
Tess is wonderful with kids. Even
those under the age of two. Tess should be adopted
by a family with a dog. She is used to playmates.
She has never been the "only" dog. Tess
can walk on a leash but needs some work. Tess will
not jump up on you or your guests when they are
being greeted.
Tess is a very fast runner and
definitely needs room to run. I would highly recommend
that she is placed in a home that has a fenced
in yard. She will run when the door opens and she
is too fast to stop. She can slide by you before
you even know it., However she did come back. Thank
goodness! What a scare that was... |
