Madison is a striking, tall, sable and white male. He
is about 19 months old, neutered and housebroken. He
loves older children and other dogs, and is tolerant of
cats. Like so many collies, he is smart and learns
quickly. He knows sit and down, and walks well on a
leash. He was surrendered by his owner in July 2003,
and is lookiing for a loving, forever home.
Madison is friendly and affectionate without being
"clingy." He loves playing with balls and
with chew toys, and enjoys having his lovely coat brushed.
He will stand patiently in front of his foster mom while she
brushes him, turning occasionally so she can get all sides.
(His foster siblings think he is a little vain!)
While Madison really enjoys the company of other dogs, he
definitely expects to be the top dog. He has shown
some mild food aggression (sometimes curling his lip, but
never snapping). He has lots of playful energy and
keeps his foster siblings on the go. He would make a
great personal trainer for anyone (dog or human) who needs a
little motivation.
Madison's ideal future home would include a fenced yard, and
lots of love and attention. Because he sees himself as
"the main man," he would do best in a household
that has female rather than other male dogs. Obedience
training and/or agility training and a firm but gentle hand
would help Madison develop into someone's perfect, family
friend.
Madison is being fostered in Duluth, Minnesota.
