Missy is an adorable, little, seven year old, sable girl. She is what we like to call an "almost" collie, since she is probably not a pure bred, and may have some unidentified branches on her family tree. However, as with most females, a little mystery just makes this girl all the more lovable! She is petite, weighing only 41 pounds, and stands just 19.5 inches at the shoulder.

Missy came to MWCR from Iowa where she was surrendered by her owner. She was one of seven or more dogs living on a farm where she was allowed to run free with occasional access to the house. She has probably had limited attention and human interaction throughout much of her life and is initially a little shy with new people. However, once she learns to trust you, she is extremely friendly and affectionate. Missy gets along well with other dogs and really loves cats. Her foster family says she seems to prefer them to dogs! She has not been exposed to children at her foster home, but she would almost certainly be good with them too, given her sweet, gentle nature.

Earlier in her life, Missy was hit by a car and sustained a broken leg. She has fully recovered however, and is able to run, play, climb stairs and jump onto the couch without any pain or difficulty. She has been examined by the vet and is in good health except for a few missing teeth and some dental problems that will require follow up to keep her teeth healthy.

Missy walks fairly well on a leash, but she is a little nervous and fearful of passing cars (who can blame her). She was initially very reluctant to go into her kennel, but now that she has settled into her foster home, she will go in with only a little coaxing. Once in her kennel, she is very calm and quiet. Her favorite game is "catch" - the version where you try to catch her. For this reason, she would probably do best in a home with a fenced yard.

This gentle girl would be the perfect addition to almost any family, since she is loving and affectionate with everyone: men, women, adults, kids and other dogs. Missy is hoping the New Year will bring her a forever home where she can have the things she has always wanted - love, attention and maybe even her very own kitty!!!
