POPE

Pope is a drop-dead-gorgeous, seven year old, tri-colored, neutered male. He is totally housebroken, crate trained (though he is so well behaved that there is really no need to crate him) and knows a variety of commands, including "sit," "stay," "lie down" and "come." He was not at all frightened by the fireworks over the July 4th holiday. He loves children, is fine with cats, and even gets along with his foster family's pet rat. This guy loves everybody!

Pope's family surrendered him to MWCR, because their two year old child was afraid when Pope would bark in the child's face. ("I'm sorry, I was just trying to get him to come and play!") His foster mom says Pope will bark "in your face" when he is happy and playful, but it is just a sign of affection. This good-natured guy hasn't an ounce of aggression in him and is totally trustworthy with children. In fact, his foster mom has taken him on nursing home visits and to a baseball game, and he was consistently gentle, friendly and well mannered.

When he first came to MWCR, Pope needed some extensive grooming and had to have mats shaved off in a few places. During some very lengthy grooming sessions, he tolerated lots of combing and tugging and seemed to love the attention. He will be a very easy dog to groom and his coat is really lovely.

If you are looking for a happy, healthy, affectionate collie with absolutely no issues, Pope is your guy! He is full of life and loves his evening walk, but is also happy to just snuggle up with his family. All this well behaved loyalty and affection, and all he asks in return is a forever home that will love him, pet him and occasionally toss around the tennis ball.
