BIO FOR AYLA

Ayla is a delightful, sable and white, rough-coated, three year old female. She is a real charmer, who likes everyone she meets, but particularly loves men. She is also friendly with strangers and will even allow them to put her collar on her. Ayla likes children as well, but when she plays, she may be a little too exuberant for very young children.

Ayla is a very well behaved girl, who knows numerous commands including: sit, stay, down, come, leave it, shake, drop it and enough (if she is barking). She is actually a fairly quiet dog (for a collie) and doesn't bark without cause. She walks well on a leash and loves to go for a ride in the car. She doesn't jump up on people and understands that she needs to "sit" to be petted. (Since she loves to be petted, "sit" is her favorite command!) She is fully housebroken and will go to the door when she needs to go outside. She won't bark to go out, so you will need to keep an eye on her.

Ayla loves people food (and has been known to go on a hunger strike to get it). She is extremely gentle when taking food from your hand. Her craving for human food sometimes leads to a little counter surfing or the occasional browse through the trash can, but she is highly trainable and will do virtually anything for a piece of hot dog.

Ayla will do best in a home that doesn't include small dogs or cats. Although she is not hostile or aggressive to other pets, she has a highly developed herding instinct and will try to herd a small dog or cat with a degree of persistence that would be very stressful for them. She should be fine with a larger dog or as an only dog.

This is one fun-loving girl!! She loves to play fetch and is very good about dropping the ball or stick when she retrieves it. Her favorite game is "doggie in the middle," in which members of her foster family toss a toy around the room while Ayla tries to "catch" it. About the only thing she doesn't enjoy is her crate. We suspect that Ayla must have been crated excessively in early life, because she is truly terrified of them now. She is also rather luke-warm about grooming, though she will tolerate it if it is done in a relaxed setting.

Ayla's permanent home will be getting a playful, loving and well behaved girl. This delightful little sweetheart is now ready for a forever home that she hopes will include at least one man and NO CRATES.
