New to Rescue!
Introducing......Bobbie! Bobbie came to MWCR as a stray and he was a very scared, timid, collie boy when he was picked up from the shelter.
Although it took a few days for Bobbie to realize that he was safe and
that it was ok to venture out of his shell, he has made remarkable
strides in just a few short weeks in his new foster home, settling in
and becoming part of the family.
Bobbie is a gorgeous sable and white three to four-year-old boy with a
very full coat. He is on the small side, weighing in at only 50 pounds.
The black highlights on his face and tail, with the merest hint of blaze
on his forehead, make Bobbie appear very striking.
Loud and unfamiliar noises tend to startle Bobbie. Thunderstorms also
make him nervous.
A big lover of attention, Bobbie is described as being like a little
stuffed toy that is hard not to pet or scratch constantly. And he loves
every minute of it. He loves to lay his head on a lap and lift his
right paw to you. Bobbie is very people-oriented.
After his initial shyness, Bobbie now romps joyfully with his 3 collie
foster siblings. Bobbie did not bark at all when he first got to his
foster home, but instead would click his jaws together, sounding like he
was playing castanets. He eventually did show that he could bark, but
overall, is a very quiet guy. Bobbie has not shown any tendencies to
guard his food.
Bobbie would love to learn his basic commands, as he has never had the
opportunity to show just how smart he can be. The shelter he resided at
said that their information showed that Bobbie had ignored a prior
resident cat - of course, being that Bobbie was stressed at the time may
have influenced his behavior, so a very controlled, gradual introduction
to cats would be advised.
A fairly quiet home without small children would be good for Bobbie – as he would tend to be over-stimulated and overwhelmed, at least initially, with too much activity and bustle. Another friendly dog (or two!) as playmates would be fine for this cuddler of a guy. Once he becomes
acclimated to his new home, Bobbie will make a great companion.
Bobbie is being fostered in Goodhue, MN.
