New to Rescue!

Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away (also known as Colorado), lived a big, teddy-bear-like collie named Chewy.  When his family moved to another planet they thought Chewy and his brother Tucker would love their new, four acre home.  Unfortunately, Chewy and Tucker also loved adventure and often would race off, chasing invaders from the dark side (cleverly disguised as squirrels and rabbits)!  Thus, Chewy and Tucker came to MWCR to search for their forever home.

Chewy is not as big as his namesake, but he is big - 80 pounds - and a whole lot cuter.  He is an exceptionally handsome, five year old, tri-colored boy with perfectly "tipped" ears.  He is non-destructive in the house, house broken and crate trained.  He walks well on a leash, knows basic commands and is very eager to please.  He will sometimes go into his kennel just to hear his foster mom tell him what a good boy he is!  He rides well in cars for short trips, but does get car sick on long rides.

Chewy is an extremely mellow, friendly and easy going boy.  He is playful with other dogs, but mostly prefers to just hang out with his people.  Although he was raised with older children, his foster mom says he appears to be good with younger kids as well.  When Chewy meets a stranger he will initially bark, but then his desire for affection and attention quickly takes over.  Both his groomer and his vet say he is a lovable, well behaved boy.  Chewy does have a strong prey drive and has been known to chase - but not hurt - his foster family's cat.  He will need supervision around cats - at least until he is convinced that they are not from the dark side - and would ideally like a fenced yard to prevent him from pursuing other invaders.

Chewy is looking for a forever home with LOTS of love and attention.  He is willing to relocate to any friendly galaxy that will appreciate a cuddly, loving, teddy bear collie.

Update – June 12, 2005

Chewy and his brother Tucker have moved to a new foster home in the Twin Cities.  Chewy's new foster mom feels that he and his brother would be happiest if they could find a forever home together.  If that becomes impossible, they could be placed separately as a last resort.

Chewy was recently neutered, so he is ready for his forever home.  He will need a fenced yard and a loving family that is looking for an affectionate, eager to please, collie boy (or two!!).

Chewy is being fostered in the Twin Cities area.
