New to Rescue!
Muncie is an exceptionally handsome, tri-colored, collie boy. At five years old, he is in his prime and is a big, strong guy, weighing in at 83 pounds and 24-25 inches tall at the shoulder.
Muncie lived most of his life in a home with five children, but was surrendered when it was determined that one of the children was allergic to him. He then lived in a foster home where the two resident dogs (a St. Bernard and a Golden Retriever) made Muncie’s life miserable by constantly biting and harassing him. He was surrendered to a local vet, and by this time the normally happy-go-lucky Muncie was in a real funk. He stayed in his kennel and refused to eat for seven days! Fortunately, the vet’s office contacted MWCR, and he was taken to a loving, new, foster home, where he began to eat again and to regain his cheerful personality.
Now that he has settled in, it has become obvious that Muncie is a really sweet natured, jolly, collie boy. He loves the other collie at his foster home (a five year old, female), and there have been no aggression or dominance issues between them. Muncie also loves to run and play outdoors, though he will take off like a shot if he sees a cat or a bunny to chase. Indoors, he is the perfect gentlemen: he doesn’t jump on the furniture, is fully housetrained and is a calm, gentle guy. He is a bright boy, with a positive disposition, who loves to be petted and talked to, though he is a little “hand shy” around his head, until he becomes familiar with someone and knows they can be trusted. Muncie knows “sit” and “down” and walks beautifully on a leash.
Muncie is hoping that 2006 will bring him a wonderful, forever home. Ideally, that home will have a big - preferably fenced - yard and another dog to play with. (One that doesn’t want to bite me please!!) Older children would be fine too, but resident cats or bunnies are out of the question. In exchange, some lucky family will find their new year brightened by a cheerful, well mannered, and loving companion.
Muncie is being fostered near Brookings, SD.
