Piper

9-month-old sable and white female  Not good with Small ChildrenMust have a Fenced Yard

New to Rescue!

Piper is a rambunctious 9 month old sable and white female. Bought as a family pet as a puppy, Piper spent most of the next 6 months in a crate in the garage. Understandably, when Piper had the opportunity, she would at times run away to escape this endless confinement, and would find herself then confined in a different location called "the shelter." Because of her age and lack of knowledge of what "home" is, a fence is required for her new home.

Piper is a typical high energy puppy that came into rescue with no prior training, and no clue as to how to be a good family member. She is in the process of learning what is acceptable, and what is not acceptable, and tries very hard to please. With her three exercise/training sessions a day at her foster home, she no longer barks when left alone in her crate, or because she is scared or frustrated. She knows now exactly how the day will go.

Piper needs a family willing to work with her on her manners and training, to give her stability, routine, and to help her understand how to become the best collie girl she can be. She is playful, and because of her age, prefers to be romping with dog buddies rather than sticking close to humans. She is learning respect for cats, and is housebroken, crate trained, knows "sit", stands for grooming, and is learning recall. She heels on a leash, and is familiar with the gentle leader when on walks.

An active family who is willing to take Piper to Obedience lessons to help her learn basic manners and to learn to bond to her family would be Piper's wish. A family with older children would be fine with Piper.

Piper is being fostered in Milton, Wisconsin.
