New to Rescue!
Tucker came to MWCR with his brother Chewy, and is very similar to him in both appearance and temperament. He is big, but not over weight at 80 pounds, and looks like a cuddly teddy bear. He is a five year old, neutered, tri-colored male.
Tucker is well behaved in the house and doesn't need to be crated, though he is also comfortable in a crate and likes to sleep there. He is crated at meal times to prevent him from eating both his dinner and his brother Chewy's. He loves attention and will happily sit still for hours of prolonged brushing of his beautiful, thick coat. He knows the basic commands and will come when called unless he is being led astray by a squirrel or rabbit, in which case he tends to develop a miraculous case of temporary deafness. Tucker walks well on a leash and also rides well in the car for short trips. Like Chewy, Tucker gets car sick on long journeys.
In spite of his size, Tucker is a very gentle boy. He loves people and wants to be with them as much as possible. He was raised with teenagers and is good with older kids, however he tends to jump up when he gets excited and might knock over young children. He is dominant with his brother. Like Chewy, he has a strong prey drive and will chase small animals.
Tucker is a true, gentle giant who is looking for a forever home where he can get all of the love and attention that he craves. Ideally, he would like a fenced yard for those times when the squirrel/rabbit temptation is just too great. Most importantly, Tucker wants someone he can cuddle up with and love.
Update – June 12, 2005
Tucker and his brother Chewy have moved to a new foster home in the Twin Cities. Their foster mom feels that although Tucker can be dominant with his brother, they would both be happiest if they could be placed together. If Tucker can't be placed with his brother, he would get along well with another, submissive dog. Tucker should not, however, go to a forever home that includes cats or other small animals.
Tucker is a happy, loving collie who is ready to find his forever home. He will need a fenced yard, and sure would like to bring his brother with him!
Tucker is being fostered in the Twin Cities area.
