Blaze

5-month-old tricolor male Must have a Fenced Yard

New to Rescue!

His face says it all: cute, playful, inquisitive, energetic, smart! Blaze is a five month old, tri-color, collie pup. He is forty pounds of fun-loving energy. For the first few months of his life, Blaze was regularly exposed to horses, cats, other dogs and lots of kids, so he learned early to get along with everyone.

If you like to feed the birds, Blaze will be a great addition to your family. He considers it his personal responsibility to chase all squirrels away from the bird feeder at his foster home. He loves his fenced yard where he can retrieve and chew on sticks; investigate anything that walks, flies or crawls; and play with the other dogs at his foster home. Those dogs are older and more sedate than Blaze, so he also has regular play dates with other, younger dogs who give him a chance to rough house. He is currently losing his puppy teeth, so he likes to chew, chew, chew. It is important that he have plenty of appropriate toys to chew on, or he will create his own chew toy from your closet. He particularly likes his Kong stuffed with treats.

Blaze is a healthy, loving boy who sleeps quietly by his foster mom’s bed at night. Although he likes to cuddle, he also wants to explore and investigate his environment. He is very smart and already knows the “sit” and “lie down” commands.

Blaze is looking for a forever family that is ready for a happy, active puppy. Collies can live twelve years or more, so he will need someone who wants to make a lifelong commitment. He should have a fence so that he can explore his yard and work off some of that puppy energy. He would also enjoy obedience training and that training would both help him expend his puppy exuberance and create a wonderful bond with his new family. He would make a great jogging companion for anyone who enjoys an active lifestyle. Most importantly, Blaze is looking for someone to love him and to be his best buddy.

Blaze is being fostered in the Twin Cities area.
