Post-Adoption Update: June 2, 2007!
Hi guys! I’m really settling into my new FOREVER home. I have a canine sister as well as a human sister, and they both love me a lot. I love them too. My canine sister Tara and I greet our mom first thing every morning at 6:45. She takes us outside to play while our human sister, Allisun, gets our food and water ready. Then we all come in and have breakfast together. After we eat our own food, Tara and I like to sit and watch our people eat. We give them our best begging look that says “Please, please, please give us some of that because we haven’t eaten in AGES!” It usually doesn’t work, but that’s okay because we really just like to sit there and be part of the family. After breakfast, we all drive Allisun to school, and I get to sit with my head out the back window of our truck. It is very interesting to see the people behind us and to check out where we have been. At the school, the other kids just love to pet and play with me. (I guess they like Tara too, but I can’t help thinking that I am the real attraction!) During the winter I enjoyed playing in the snow. My family used to laugh watching me run and jump and roll and I must admit I was pretty cute. Now that the snow is gone, I like playing fetch with a tennis ball. My mom is so silly! She thinks that after I chase the ball and pick it up, that I should bring it back and give it to her. I don’t think so. I also like to herd my human sister. She doesn’t mind a bit, although sometimes I accidentally trip her and she falls on the grass. I feel real bad when that happens, so I lay right down next to her and put my paw on her so she knows I didn’t mean it. This is really a wonderful place. I have toys to play with, Tara to run and chase, and people who love me. My favorite thing to do on a gray rainy day is to curl up on my mom’s lap and let her hug me to sleep. It’s heaven. At first she said that I was too big to be a lap dog, but I showed her that with a little effort it can be done. Of course I still miss my foster mom and the collies at her house, but nothing is as great as having your very own home. That’s all for now. Good luck to all the other collies waiting for their forever homes. Don’t worry, your turn will come. And when it does, WOW! This handsome boy looks like quite the gentle giant, and though he is gentle, he isn’t as big as he looks. He is only 64 pounds, but his luxurious, dense coat makes him appear much larger. At three years old, he is beyond the rambunctious puppy stage, but he still has lots of energy and is always ready for a good game of fetch. He loves long walks, playing with other dogs and frolicking with his toys. |
