Bubba (center) and his petite friends!

New to Rescue!
There’s no getting around it (or him): Buddy is big! He is so big that his foster home has affectionately dubbed him "Bubba. " But in spite of his girth, Buddy is a very handsome, tri colored, male collie with beautiful markings and a lush, full ruff. He was born in 2002, so he will be four years old sometime this year.
Buddy came to MWCR when his former owner’s elderly parents became seriously ill and required lots of support and attention. This resulted in too little time to care for Buddy, and he was reluctantly surrendered to MWCR so he could find a new home that would be able to give him the time and attention he deserved. Since coming to his foster home, he has had all of the attention he could ask for, since it includes four kids (4th grade to college freshman), two cats and two resident collies. He is also getting lots of exercise by going for walks and playing with his collie foster siblings. He has fit in well with the other animals, ignoring the cats, and interacting nicely with the collies after a brief and unsuccessful attempt to dominate his 45 pound collie foster sister. Having been put in his place by a collie less than half his size, Buddy decided that power is greatly over rated and reverted to the laid back, easy going guy that he is.
Like so many large collies, Buddy is a gentle giant. He loves people and craves petting and attention from both children and adults. He is a calm boy and rarely barks or takes notice of the distractions around him (sirens, joggers, skateboarder, etc.). He is housebroken and well behaved both in the house and on a leash. Buddy has been put on a diet of premium dog food that will help him to lose those extra few pounds (okay 30 pounds) and regain the gloss and sheen to his thick, wavy coat. He is also scheduled for a trip to the groomers to remove a few mats and get a good bath.
Buddy is a collie who would do well in almost any home. He is good with kids, good with adults, good with cats, good with other dogs – just plain good! He would be happy to have canine company but would also be perfectly satisfied as an “only” dog. His only real requirement is a family that will commit to helping him shed those unwanted pounds through a healthy diet and plenty of regular exercise. Oh yes, and one that will give him lots of super sized love.
Buddy is being foster in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, a Milwaukee suburb.
