Bio for Buddy
Buddy wants a girlfriend. This two year old tri-colored guy loves the ladies, but isn't too keen on having male competition in the picture.
He loves to run and chase and play with a female playmate. When it's
time to eat, Buddy must be fed totally separate from any other dogs,
friend or not. He displays food aggression regardless of his friendly
feelings during playtime. Buddy should not be around cats or other small
animals. Because of his food aggression, Buddy should also not be in a
family with small children. Older children would need to be instructed
in appropriate behavior regarding food and treats.
Any attention Buddy can get, Buddy loves. Being brushed ranks on the
top of Buddy's "Oh boy!" list.
A crate makes Buddy feel safe and secure. If there is a thunderstorm, he
will look for someplace dark to go.
His foster home says that Buddy is one of the most loving and wacky
collies they have ever known. They say he has a personality that will
lighten anybody's day, that he craves attention and lives for the "one
on one." He is very submissive, and won't leave his foster mom's side.
He's a smart boy with the stubbornness that comes with intelligence and
herding breeds in general. Barking, of course, being a herding breed
trait also, comes naturally to Buddy. An outlet for Buddy's intelligence
(for example - agility or herding classes) will channel Buddy's
energies into constructive avenues. Allowing Buddy, or any young
exuberant dog no chance to learn and be active can allow boredom to
take over, leading to destructive chewing and other undesirable
activities. With proper training and a lot of exercise, Buddy's
inherent brains and energy will make somebody a wonderful active
companion. A lot of fun can be had with this guy!
A home with time and energy to devote to Buddy will be joyfully
enhanced by his quirky personality. Given the opportunity to "be the
best that he can be" is all Buddy asks in return for years of fun,
frolic and his total adoration.
Buddy is being fostered near Milwaukee, WI.
