Smart, energetic and playful, this happy go lucky pup has it all. Calvin is an 8 month old, 35 pound, collie mix who has quickly won the hearts of everyone at his foster home. He loves to snuggle, play and rough house with his collie foster sister, and takes an easy going but harmless interest in the family cats. Calvin is eager to please and loves to be loved. When he is not in his frenetic “puppy mode,” he is a real snuggle bug who can’t get enough hugging and petting, and follows his foster mom from room to room. He is good with children, though when he is playing with his canine friends his wild play might be too much for little ones. As an only dog, however, he would be fine with even young children since he doesn’t mouth or jump up on people.

Calvin is a very good boy and a quick learner. He already knows how to sit on command and is working on “down” and “come.” Although he was initially afraid of his crate, his foster mom had no trouble crate training him, and he will now go obediently into his crate when told to do so. When he is outdoors, it is not necessary to keep him leashed as long as his foster family is there to supervise him. He is relatively indifferent to distractions such as cars and squirrels, and will ignore them if his family calls him. He rides well in the car, usually falling asleep after the first few minutes. Indoors, Calvin is quiet and doesn’t jump on the furniture.

Calvin is still a puppy and has plenty of puppy energy, but he is also a polite, eager to please little guy with lots of love to give. He will make a great family dog and would be a wonderful candidate for either fly ball or agility training. This loving pup is looking for a forever family who will continue his education, help him work off his excess energy and then snuggle up for lots of hugs and collie kisses.
