New to Rescue!

Jackson is a gentle mahogany boy between the ages of 2 and 3 who wants to please. A little on the thin side, most likely due to never having the advantage of a good diet, he is now in the process of trying to put on about five pounds. Jackson is not food aggressive at all, and will share everything. What a nice guy! He is a fast learner, who has no interest in toys - again, because he probably never had the opportunity to know what "fun" is! His foster mom is working on showing him the "fun" part of life, much to Jackson's joy.

Going for a walk on a leash is something Jackson enjoys, and he walks very well - unless, of course, he sees a deer. In his prior life, he probably had no boundaries, and chasing deer was the only fun thing he had to do.

Making his people happy is Jackson's main goal of the day. He will lean right up against you, and if his foster parents need to walk away while he's leaning into them, they jokingly tell him "Don't fall over now when I move!" He will also sit by your side to solicit a hand on his head. Jackson loves to snuggle, is very, very mellow, and rarely barks (except at deer). His foster mom says he is proving the "Terrible Two" theory wrong!

Jackson gets excited when his people get home from work, hopping around to show his happiness at seeing them. He knows how to sit and shake, and likes having his belly rubbed. Now, COMBING his belly is another story. Not on his "favorite" list!

Recently neutered, Jackson has worn a "belly band" to deter him from marking until his testosterone levels decrease. The marking is gradually becoming less frequent, and will entirely disappear shortly. He has not had any accidents in the house, even with his foster parents normal long work-day absence.

Cats and Jackson are not a good match. He has not been around children in his foster environment as of yet. Not appearing overly exuberant, at this point it is assumed that Jackson would be a suitable match for a family with older children.

A home with somebody to love and care for him is all that Jackson desires. If he had a dog friend, that would be fine also. The most important thing to him is somebody to make him part of their home and life, letting him know that he is indeed special. In return Jackson will do his best to please his new family. A familiar leg to lean on and lots of pats on the head will earn Jackson's loving devotion forever.

Jackson is being fostered in Bowlus, MN.
