New to Rescue!

"Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s a JET!!!! "

Of course, our Jet doesn’t leap tall buildings in a single bound and he can’t actually fly, but when he is chasing after his ball during a game of fetch, he is definitely faster than a speeding bullet. Super Collie Jet has loads of energy and loves running and playing with his foster collie siblings; and unlike most collies who are content to herd cars, bicycles, lawnmowers, etc., Jet tries to herd airplanes. Whenever a jet plane flies over his foster home, Jet chases after it, watching and barking until he has driven it from his yard. This is a collie who thinks big.

But life wasn’t always so promising for Jet. He was originally picked up by animal control when he was found running along a highway. He was taken to a crowded, kill shelter where he had three days to find a home or he would have been euthanized. Given his lean, matted state, there was very little chance of someone adopting him, so MWCR brought him to a loving foster home. Since coming to his foster home, he has been clipped down to remove all his mats, and taken to the vet for a thorough examination. Jet has been given a clean bill of health and at 60 pounds he is a tall, lean collie. His coat is in pretty poor condition as a result of his period of homelessness, but with good nutrition and about six months growing time, it should develop into a beautiful, unique collie coat. His coloring is very special, mostly tri-colored, with flecks of sable.

Jet is a very well behaved boy who is both housetrained and crate trained. He loves to go for walks and visit the dog park, and he will play fetch forever! He is extremely affectionate and likes to sit next to his foster mom and nudge her until she pets him. Jet is a happy and loving collie who is good with everyone he meets: adults, children and other dogs. His foster home does not have cats, so he has not been cat-tested.

Jet is looking for an active forever family who will allow him to be part of the action. He would make a great jogging partner and a wonderful playmate for children or other active dogs. Given his energy and intelligence, he would also make a great candidate for agility training or fly-ball. Let’s face it, with Jet, the sky’s the limit!

Jet is fostered in Rockford, Illinois.
