New to Rescue!

Is there anything cuter than a puppy?!

Ned is a lovable, playful, four month old  collie pup with an adorable face that will just melt your heart.  He has had his physical, checked out just fine, and will soon be neutered, after which time he will be available for adoption.

Ned came to MWCR from a local Humane Society where his owner turned him in because he was "too much work." HUH? He’s a puppy. Of course he is a lot of work! He is just learning about the world and how he is supposed to relate to it. His foster mom is working with him on house training, basic commands, leash walking and crate training. All of these things take time and effort, and Ned is looking for a forever home that understands the needs of a puppy.

But puppies are more than just work. They are also lots of love, lots of energy and lots of joy. Ned “knows no strangers.” Everyone he meets is instantly his friend – someone to play with, cuddle and shower with puppy kisses. Although Ned has tons of youthful energy, he is reasonably calm indoors, spending most of his time snuggling, chewing on his toys and sleeping. Sometimes he combines these activities by first chewing on his stuffed cow and later using it for a pillow when he naps (it’s good to have friends who adapt to our needs). Outdoors Ned is an entirely different puppy – a real wild man who loves to run and play and run and play and run and play some more!

Ned is very adaptable and instantly fit in with everyone at his foster home. He loves the other dogs, the cat, the adults and the two young children (ages three years and seven months). He has shown no signs of food aggression or of herding instinct, and though he will chase the family’s three year old daughter, he never tries to nip at her.

Ned is looking for a forever home with a large, fenced yard where he can work off some of his puppy energy. He will also need someone who will continue his education and training so that he can grow up to be a canine good citizen. Otherwise his requirements are pretty flexible. He would be happy in a home with other dogs or he would be fine as an only dog. He is good with children, but an adult only household would work for him too. Most importantly, he is looking for someone who understands that sometimes the best things in life require a little work.

Ned is being fostered in Buffalo Grove, IL.
