New to Rescue!
Treasure is a very sweet, gentle, Collie girl who came to MWCR with her brother Sammie. She is a few months over one year old with a petite, compact build and a lovely sable and white coat. Treasure and Sammie had been given to a vet clinic by their owner who didn't want to deal with their recurring gastric problems, and the clinic surrendered them to MWCR. Since coming to her foster home, Treasure has been consistently fed a special, prescription diet dog food and has had no tummy trouble since. Treasure is a happy, healthy girl.
When Treasure first arrived at her foster home she was quite timid, but
she has warmed up quickly. Her foster home says, "Treasure has gone
from a timid, cowering, weak stomached little girl to one with an attitude!"
She is extremely gentle and affectionate and gets along well with the
other animals at her foster home: two Collies, three cats and three
kittens. She likes rawhide chews and is very good about eating her
prescription food, though she prefers the forbidden "people" food and
will beg piteously to get it. She tends to be a bit food aggressive
with "her" food, so needs to be fed separately, and small children would
need to be educated and supervised in feeding situations.
Treasure is a smart girl, but like any young dog she would benefit from
obedience classes to help her learn and develop confidence. She will
sit on command and can be trusted off leash unless there are other dogs
around to lead her astray. She is crate trained and sleeps quietly in
her crate at night (though she wouldn't object if her forever family
wanted her to sleep on the bed with them)!
Treasure is eagerly awaiting a forever home with a family who will love
her and help her develop into the well-mannered, confident girl she is
ready to become. That family will be getting more than a Collie - they
will be getting a Treasure!
Treasure is being fostered in Fergus Falls, MN.
