New to Rescue!
Whoever named this little sweetheart sure knew what they were doing. At just one year old, Angel has a playful, affectionate nature and deep soulful eyes that win over everyone she meets. She loves everyone and particularly enjoys playing with the children and the other dogs at her foster home. She also likes the cats and considers them to be small, fluffy chew toys. The cats, however, don’t much care to be gnawed on and chased, so when they respond with a whack on the nose, Angel quickly backs off.
Angel’s original owners surrendered her because her curiosity often led her to wander away from home. As an outdoor dog, it is not surprising that this young girl would want to explore the world, seeking adventure and new friends, and when she was surrendered to the shelter, she was covered with burrs and mats. The shelter staff was forced to shave her, and for a while her lovely coat looked pretty rough. Now that her fur is beginning to grow out, Angel is looking much more beautiful, and it should be easy to keep her that way because she loves to be brushed.
Having lived all of her young life outdoors, Angel is just learning to enjoy the benefits of an indoor lifestyle. She loves being around people and the other dogs, and really enjoys sleeping in her soft, fluffy, dog bed. The sounds of the city are new to her and when she is startled by a strange sound, she will respond by barking. Her foster family is working with her and she is learning “no” and “quiet.” In spite of having lived exclusively outdoors, Angel is fully housetrained and has never had an accident in her foster home. She is afraid of stairs and will need a forever family that will continue to work with her on this.
Angel is really still a puppy and with great puppies come great responsibilities. She is looking for a forever home that will continue her education. Obedience training would be a wonderful way for her to bond with her new family, while learning how to become a canine good citizen. She is a smart, eager-to-please girl who will learn quickly. Angel’s forever home should have a fenced yard where she can run and play without being tempted to wander off. She would love to have another doggie companion or perhaps children to help her work off some of that puppy energy. Dog-savvy cats would be okay too. Most importantly, Angel is looking for a family who will shower her with the love and affection that she is so eager to return.
Angel is being fostered in the Minneapolis area.
