New to Rescue!
Before coming to MWCR, this playful, energetic young pup spent two months in a shelter cage. That’s a quarter of his young life! It’s no wonder that now this otherwise easy going, happy go lucky guy hates to be crated or confined. Fortunately, when you are as well behaved as Arnie, there is no need to confine you. His foster family says he is fully housetrained and so well behaved that he can be allowed the run the house at night and for extended periods during the day without getting into any trouble.
Arnie already knows a variety of commands including: sit, come, settle down, off and no. His foster mom is working with him on the “no bark” command, but Arnie is so happy to be out of the shelter that sometimes he just has to give voice to it. Arnie likes to go for rides (as long as there is no crate involved) and walks extremely well on a leash. He has no fear of loud noises such as lawn mowers, vacuums, trucks, etc. and has never tried to jump or climb the fence in his yard.
Arnie is friendly and affectionate with the adults in his foster home, but has not yet been exposed to children. Given his cheerful, loving nature it is very probable that he would be good with children. He is still a pup, however, and his puppy energy sometimes causes him to jump up and puppy-nip. This is typical puppy behavior, and his foster mom is working with him to curb it, but it might make him a little too much for young children. He has not been exposed to cats, so they are an unknown quantity, but he loves other dogs and gets along very well with them. He has shown no food aggression and is willing to share with his canine playmates.
Arnie is very bright and eager to please. He will often tilt his head when listening to people or sounds and assume an endearing, quizzical expression. He loves to sleep snuggled up to his foster mom or one of his canine foster brothers. Arnie’s foster mom is a puppy trainer and describes him as “the best 8 month old dog I have ever seen.” High praise indeed!
Arnie is ready for a forever family that wants only “the best.” Although a fence is always nice, Arnie had good recall and doesn’t require one as long as he is supervised when outdoors. He would love another playful dog to frolic with, but most importantly he wants a loving family who will lavish him with attention and cuddles.
Arnie is being fostered in Brandon, WI.
