4-month-old sable and white male

Axl, right, with his sister Izzy

New to Rescue!

This little puppy immediately stole the hearts of his entire foster family, including his canine foster sister. Thus he went from foster puppy to adopted puppy in a matter of minutes.

He was originally considered the “quiet one” of the group of puppies that came to MWCR from an unplanned litter on a farm. In no time, however, he became a typical, romping, chewing, happy-go-lucky little guy. He happily ignores his pile of doggie toys to seek out someone’s carefully concealed slipper when he is looking for a good chew toy. But with a face like this you can get away with pretty much anything.

Aside from the typical puppy behavior, Axl is a well mannered little man. His list of accomplishments is impressive for one so small: he has “sit” down cold, he knows “shake,” “give five,” and is learning “stay” and “come.” The “come” command is particularly easy for Axl when he hears the food bowl shake. The word “no” is not a favorite and when he hears it, he becomes very vocal. His new mom is working on correcting this “sass.”

Axl is a generous little guy and is not at all aggressive about his food or his toys. He is good on a leash and is pretty good in the car, although sometimes the excitement is a little over stimulating. He is crate trained and has had remarkably few accidents for one so young.

Axl’s family has had the joy of watching the “quiet” one who was picked on by his litter mates blossom into a confident, loving, playful puppy – enjoying romps in the yard (and the house) and naps in the yard (and the house). He loves his human family and his very tolerant canine big sister. It turns out the old adage is true: “You’ve gotta watch out for the quiet ones!”

Axl is being fostered in Champlin, Minnesota.
