#2449 – Bailey III

7-year-old tricolor female

New to Rescue!

Unlike many dogs that come into rescue, Bailey came from a loving family who took good care of her. Unfortunately, a move and a death in the family created a situation where the family could no longer care for Bailey and her collie companion, Lambeau. They made the painful decision to do what was best for the two dogs, and now Lambeau and Bailey are with MWCR.

Bailey is adjusting well to her foster home and has endeared herself to everyone there with her sweet, gentle nature. She gets along well with the children (ages 10 and 16) and with the resident collies (ages 11 and 4). She is interested in the cats, but since they don’t show much interest in Bailey, she has learned to simply ignore them. She is an extremely well behaved guest and can be left alone in the house for up to eight hours without any problems. She knows several commands including “sit,” “come” and “off” and is bright and eager to learn.

Bailey loves food and treats, and though she is always the first to snap up any unattended morsel of food that hits the floor, she has never shown any food aggression. She likes to curl up on the couch with her foster family, but always jumps down if told to, and though she doesn’t much care for grooming, she will tolerate it. She loves to go for car rides and is a well behaved passenger.

Bailey’s foster home does not have a fenced yard, but she has shown no inclination to wander off and would probably not need a fence at her forever home as long as she was supervised when out of doors. She walks very nicely on a leash and would enjoy going for walks with her new people.

It is easy to see why it was so difficult for Bailey’s original family to give her up. She is a delightful, loving girl who would be a wonderful companion for almost anyone. She loves everyone she meets: children, adults, cats and other dogs. She is healthy and well behaved with a sweet, gentle manner that makes her very easy to love. Having once known the joy of being a part of a doting family, Bailey is eager to find another family to love her.

Bailey III is being fostered in Wauwatosa, WI.
