#2372 – Parker, FKA Buddy III

1-year-old sable and white male

Parker, with his new sister Maybellene!

New to Rescue!

Happy, happy, happy! In a word (well, three words) that is Buddy. He is a 13-month-old, rough coated, collie boy who is just a big bundle of fun. Buddy spent most of his young life chained outside on a farm, so he is really enjoying all of the attention and the new sights and sounds of being an indoor dog. Everything is new to Buddy, and he greets his new experiences with a wagging tail that makes his whole body sway. He has none of the fear issues that sometimes show up in outdoor dogs when they are making the transition to an indoor lifestyle. Buddy is unafraid of stairs, thunder, vacuum cleaners, loud noises, etc. and he is fully housetrained.

Buddy is an exceptionally handsome boy, with unique sable, white and blue merle markings and perfectly tipped ears. He weighs about 67 pounds now, but is expected to continue growing and will ultimately be a large dog. He has been neutered and has no medical issues. He is as healthy as he is happy.

At just over a year old, Buddy is really still a puppy, and his foster mom does not leave him alone in the house for extended periods. He is learning some basic commands and knows how to “sit” and “stay.” Like any young dog, Buddy would benefit from obedience training, and it would be a great way to bond with his new family. He is learning to walk on a leash and is very bright and eager to please.

Buddy loves everyone. Like Will Rogers, Buddy never met a man he didn’t like (or woman, or child, or dog.) He likes cats too, but tends to show his interest by chasing them sometimes. He loves playing with the other dogs at his foster home and when they tire of playing, he entertains himself by tossing his toys in the air and catching them. He enjoys playing with older children, but his energetic, happy-go-lucky manner might be too much for younger kids. He is good about being bathed and he loves to be brushed.

Buddy is an extremely cuddly guy and is always ready to be petted, rubbed or snuggled. He is ready for a loving home that will give him all of the attention and affection that he deserves and craves. Because he still has lots of puppy energy, he would enjoy having another young dog or older children to play with. A fenced yard would be great, but wouldn’t be a necessity if he was supervised when outside. Buddy is full of the joy of life and he is ready to share that joy with a fun-loving, forever family.

Buddy III is being fostered in Bowlus, MN.
