#2446 – Colin

2-1/2-year-old sable and white male

New to Rescue!

Colin is looking for his own little brood of children to care for. Although he likes everyone, Colin is particularly fond of little children. When the 2 ˝ year old grandchild at his foster home was crying, Colin ran over and licked away the tears. He stayed with the little boy until he fell asleep with his head on Colin’s tummy. Even when grandma moved the child to the couch, Colin followed along and lay on the floor near him.

Colin’s nurturing manner extends to the other dogs at his foster home as well. He tries to be the peace maker when the others dogs are bickering, and though he doesn’t actively seek out the kitties, he has a “live and let live” attitude toward them too.

Colin came to MWCR from Missouri where he and some other animals were left in an abandoned home when the owners moved away. He is a sweet affectionate boy who craves attention, but he is somewhat shy when he meets strangers. Once he knows that they won’t hurt him, Colin warms up immediately. His background probably included some abuse and neglect, since he is very thin (only 38 pounds) and needs to gain quite a bit of weight.

It is hard to imagine that anyone could mistreat a sweetheart like Colin. He is extremely well behaved and can be left for extended periods without supervision. He knows several commands including “sit,” “down,” “up,” and “off.” He is working on stay. He loves car rides and is a good passenger who spends his time looking out the window and watching the world go by. He likes to go for walks and gets excited when he sees the leash come out. He absolutely loves to be brushed and practically climbs in your lap when he is being groomed.

Colin would make a loving, loyal addition to almost any family. He probably doesn’t need a fenced yard as long as he is supervised when outdoors. He is good with other dogs and is respectful of cats. His gentle, caring manner make him a real joy around children of all ages and his ideal, forever home would definitely include children. Colin is a healthy, happy, easy going guy who is looking for a family to love.

Colin is being fostered in Hartland, WI.
