#2415 – Dora

1-year-old sable and white female  Must have a Fenced Yard

New to Rescue!

Just call this slender, rough coated sable and white beauty a-Dora-ble!  Friendly Dora loves people, especially men, and is well behaved with her foster family's grandchildren.  She likes other dogs, too, but she can be aggressive with her food when around other dogs that she doesn't know well.  Dora is housebroken and while not noisy overall, she will bark when playing or to let you know when she needs to go outside.  Because this healthy, active 1 year old loves to run and play, a home with a fenced yard is preferred.  When not distracted by squirrels, rabbits and birds, Dora walks very nicely on a leash.  While Dora's former owner said that she can be destructive if left alone, she is fine in her foster home if given a chew toy.

Sociable Dora rides well in the car if she's accompanied by a canine friend, but may act nervous if she's alone.  She responds to "sit," "in the house" and "here, Dora."  Her foster family is working to teach her to stay off the furniture and not to jump on people in her eagerness to greet them.  Dora thinks that brushing is a game, so it's best to groom her when she's relaxed after a walk.  Dora loves to play with tennis balls so much that if you give her too many she will try to put them all in her mouth at once.  She then will roam from one tennis ball to the next, dropping them back and forth in an effort to gather them all - a funny sight to watch.

This easy going girl will make a great addition to any family that will provide her with the exercise and playtime that she needs.

Dora is being fostered in Hartland, WI.
