#2390 – Foxy, FKA Journey and Beeker

1-2-year-old sable and white female

New to Rescue!

This dainty little 47-pound girl is foxy in every sense of the word. She is pert and perky, and is as clever as the proverbial fox. Foxy is one to two years old, housebroken, spayed and completely healthy. She is very well behaved indoors and her foster family has left her with the run of the house for up to ten hours with no misbehavior. She walks well on a leash, likes to go for rides in the car and knows all of the basic commands (sit, stay, shake, down, etc.). She does need some work on “come” and “off.” Foxy doesn’t particularly enjoy grooming but she will tolerate it if she is distracted by a chew toy.

Foxy gets along well with everyone at her foster home: men, women, kids and other dogs. She considers the family cat to be unworthy of notice and is indifferent toward the horses. She is an extremely friendly, easy going girl who generally likes everyone she meets. The notable exception to this rule is the vet. When Foxy recently got her check up, she was nervous (aren’t we all at the doctor’s office), and the vet had to muzzle her.

Foxy loves to chase and run with other dogs and is very playful. She follows her foster mom around and repeatedly presents her with balls or stuffed toys. She will play fetch for as long as someone will throw the ball, but when the game is ended, she loves to curl up with her person for a long nap. She is – for a collie – a quiet girl who only barks when excited. She is quite fearless and doesn’t react to the noises that frighten many other dogs: vacuums, trucks, thunder, airplanes, etc.

Foxy does have a stubborn streak. She likes to sleep on the couch and is very reluctant to get down. If her foster mom repeatedly commands her to get down, Foxy will wrinkle her nose at her, though she has never growled. Her foster family is working with her and she is getting better.

Foxy is ready for a home where she will get lots of love and cuddles. She doesn’t need a fenced yard as long as she is supervised when outdoors, but she definitely needs enough room for lots and lots of games of fetch. Another young, playful dog would be nice but not necessary. Foxy is full of fun and full of love and ready to bestow both on her new, forever family.

Foxy is being fostered in Forest Lake, MN.
