#2410 –- Lance

1-year-old tricolor rough male (shaved)

New to Rescue!

At one year old Lance is already a real charmer. His foster mom describes him as “cute and curious, courageous and cautious” all rolled up in one loveable collie package. Lance is a tall boy and weighs about 70 pounds.

He came to MWCR from a kind vet tech in Iowa who helped to liberate him from a farmer who ignored and neglected him. When the tech first saw him he was terribly matted and infested with ticks and fleas, but she cleaned him up and later surrendered him to MWCR. Lance’s neglected fur had to be shaved down, but it is already growing back and by the time winter sets in he will be sporting a thick, shiny fur coat. He does have an inherited skin condition for which he takes inexpensive Vitamin E tablets, but this condition does not bother him and cannot be transmitted to other animals or humans. One of Lance’s eyes is slightly underdeveloped, but he can see perfectly well and it doesn’t affect him in any way.

Lance is an extremely well behaved, easy going guy who has adapted quickly to his foster home. He is a smart dog and is learning to “come” on command and that he mustn’t jump up on people when he greets them. He walks well on a leash and has no interest in wandering away from his yard or his foster mom. He is fully house broken and has been left alone with his collie foster brothers for up to six hours without any trouble.

Lance gets along well with the other dogs at his foster home, a ten year old and a four year old collie. He has shown no food aggression with either dogs or humans. !

Lance is a good, good boy who will make a loving and loyal addition to almost any home. He is fine with other dogs and children and loves everyone he meets. He is looking for a forever family who will appreciate his sweet, happy-go-lucky nature and who will love him as much as he will love them. And that’s A LOT!

Lance is being fostered in Wauwatosa, WI.
