Those of you who remember the original Lassie will know that Lassie was beautiful, gentle, loving and really, really smart. Well, meet Lassie, The Next Generation.

Our Lassie has all the wonderful qualities of her namesake, with none of the Hollywood attitude. This sweet girl is incredibly gentle and loving – no human lap is too small for her to seek out. She is protective of her foster family (including her canine, foster sister), but is never aggressive. Instead, when a stranger comes to the door, Lassie places herself between the stranger and her family member as if to say “Over my dead body!”

Lassie is also smart. She has quickly learned “sit,” “stay,” and “down” and knows that when her leash is put on she must not pull. Okay, she hasn’t saved Timmy from the well yet, but it’s really just a matter of time.

Lassie does very little barking and when she is outside her fenced yard, she comes readily when called. Her recent trip to the groomers was a great success and the groomer described her as a perfectly well behaved client. She doesn’t like to have her feet touched, but never reacts with aggression or hostility – she merely walks away.

Of course, Lassie LOVES children. Her foster mom recently took her to visit some neighbors, and she had a wonderful time playing football with the boys – no barking or herding. The children had great fun with her, and when it was time to leave, Lassie pranced away, occasionally looking over her shoulder as if to say, “Are they watching me? Do they miss me?”

Lassie will make the perfect, family companion. She is gentle, playful, loving and wonderful with children. She has not yet been cat tested, but given her sweet, easy going temperament, her foster mom anticipates that she will be feline friendly. Lassie is ready to bring joy and love to a forever home, where she will star in her very own happy ending.
