Description: Lucy has decided that she is one of the “designer” dogs that are currently so popular and being sold at outrageous prices. There are schnoodles and boodles, puggles and gollies (Golden Retriever/Collie selling for up to $800!) and Lucy has declared herself to be a bollie (Beagle/Collie). She certainly has the characteristics of both breeds. On walks, Lucy’s nose is always on the ground, a sign of her Beagle hunting heritage. But she also has the Collie herding instinct which leads her to try to pursue things that move quickly – kids, bikes, motorcycles, etc. Lucy is a very speedy runner, and she loves nothing better than to spot a rabbit and chase after it at full speed.

In July Lucy will celebrate her second birthday, and unlike human children who go through the “terrible twos,” Lucy has reached a truly delightful age. She still has lots of energy and loves to run and play, but she also has developed a certain maturity. She no longer needs to be crated when her humans leave the house, and though she loves to “disembowel” the occasional stuffed doggie toy, she is not destructive with human belongings. Lucy loves to go for walks and greets everything in her path with a happy, cheerful curiosity, zigging and zagging and wagging her way through the neighborhood. She enjoys playing with her two canine foster sisters, but when they are not home she loves soaking up the attention as an only dog.

Lucy is an extremely smart, alert and athletic girl. She would love to do agility and really show those other dogs how clever she is. She is well mannered and will come, sit and stay when told to. When indoors she likes to keep an eagle eye on her neighborhood and spends lots of time looking out the windows on the front and back of her house. Nothing escapes her: not a bird, rabbit, human, dog or squirrel. She would definitely be a valuable addition to any neighborhood watch program!

But now that Lucy is approaching the matronly age of two, she is also more laid back and cuddly. She loves to snuggle up close to her foster mom, have her tummy rubbed and give collie kisses. She is still cautious when she initially meets new people, but warms up very quickly and is ready to show affection.

Lucy is ready for a forever home where her new family will give her lots of love and attention. She gets along well with other dogs, is tolerant of kitties and would be a wonderful playmate for older children.
