New to Rescue!
Little Mia is quite the rarity in the world of rescue. It is highly unusual to take in any purebred puppy, but finding one of Mia’s charm and beauty is truly unique. Mia is a lovely, rough coated, blue merle puppy, just a few months old. She was surrendered by her family because she had had several seizures, and they feared that they would not be able to afford the medical treatment that Mia would need. However, since coming to MWCR, Mia has had extensive blood work done and all of the results have been normal. She has now been with her foster family for three weeks and has shown no signs of seizure activity. It is hoped and believed that her condition has resolved itself.
Since coming to MWCR, Mia has been a typical, happy, playful puppy. She is very social and easy going and considers everyone her friend. Little Mia knows no strangers. She is friendly and loving with everyone she meets: children, adults, young dogs, old dogs, even cats. Her foster home includes both a three year old and a twelve year old collie who consider Mia to be the puppy they never had, and they share everything with her. Mia responds well to the other dogs and is respectful of their space. She seems to blend in beautifully in virtually any situation.
As with all young puppies, Mia is learning about the world around her. Everything is new and a source of interest (particularly waste paper baskets and toilet paper rolls). She is crate trained and goes into her crate without complaint. She is still practicing her house training skills, but she is a smart, eager to please girl and should master the situation quickly. She already knows the commands: “in,” “out” and “sit” and is working on “come,” “down” and “lay.” She does well without a fenced yard, but needs to be constantly supervised to prevent her wandering off to explore new worlds. She loves to play in the snow, which should prove to be a useful skill here in the Upper Midwest.
Mia is looking for a special family who will help her learn about the exciting world around her. She is a free spirited little girl, who is confident without being pushy and will do well with children, adults, other dogs and cats. She will need to be spayed before she can be adopted, but otherwise she is ready for the adventure of a new, forever home. If your family is ready for joys and challenges of a loving, playful puppy, you couldn’t find a sweeter one than our little Mia.
Mia is being fostered in Brookfield, WI.
