New to Rescue!
Unlike many of the collies that come to MWCR, Mollie Lee came from a loving family who reluctantly gave her up and who miss her very much. Due to a divorce, Mollie was left alone more than she was used to and her family felt it was best for Mollie to go to a home where she would get more time and attention. Mollie is a lovely, rough coated, sable collie who is four years old and weighs a petite 50 pounds. She is extremely well behaved in the house and is fully house trained.
Mollie is a loving, social girl who likes everyone she meets. She is good with children middle school age and older, but has had no experience with younger kids. She gets along beautifully with the four month old lab mix at her foster home, and they have a great time playing together. She is mildly food aggressive with other dogs but never with humans. Mollie views cats as moving chew toys and chases the ones at her foster home whenever she gets the chance. Her foster mom doesn’t believe that this is something Mollie will outgrow, so her forever home should not include any members of the feline persuasion.
Mollie is a sweet-natured girl who is affectionate and eager to please. She is generally a happy, playful collie, but she is very fearful of thunderstorms and fireworks. During storms her former owner used to play soft music for Mollie to help calm her. She also has some mild separation anxiety and tends to bark when left alone for prolonged periods. She would benefit by having another dog to keep her company, if her forever family will need to leave her alone much.
It would be desirable if Mollie’s forever home included a fenced yard, since she does not always respond to the “come” command if she is excited or distracted. However, if she is well supervised outdoors, a fence is not absolutely necessary. Mollie knows how to “sit” and “shake” and will usually “come” when called. She likes being brushed and combed, walks well on a leash, and enjoys going for car rides. She is a typically vocal collie who enjoys telling her family whenever something outside the window catches her attention: “Oh look, a truck. Oh look, a bird. Oh look, a squirrel!” Her foster mom is working with her on this, but Mollie will probably never be a collie of few words.
Mollie loves to sit primly with her paws crossed in front of her, like the little princess that she is. She is looking for a forever family that will dote on her and give her lots of hugs and kisses. Ideally, she would like a home where she is not left alone for prolonged periods and perhaps one that includes another dog for her to play with. In return, Mollie will lavish her family with love and princess collie kisses.
Mollie Lee is being fostered in Ft. Atkinson, WI.
