New to Rescue!
Greetings from Indiana!
I just wanted to let you know how I am doing. I was a very good boy
on the trip home. I only threw up one time (grass, mostly) and slept
most of the rest of the time. I was very relieved to always have one
of my new girls sitting in the back near my crate for the entire
trip. These girls are really sweet to me. When we arrived at my new
house I checked out every inch of the place, just like I am supposed
to. WOW- there are a lot of new smells here! AND, did you know they
have three of these things called "cats" at this house? They are
really cool, and look like they'd be fun to play with but I think
they don't like how I smell. One of them even whapped me on the head
and hissed at me when I tried to smell him for too long. I just
looked at him and said, "Mr. Grumpy pants, I won't bother you
anymore." Now we all just look at each other when we pass by...maybe
someday they'll agree to play with me.
I have a HUGE yard where I play and run and run. My girls all love
me so much and I am in love with them too. They are teaching me so
many things about how life works around here. They bought me so many
toys!! I know I have to be in my crate when they have to leave, or
if they have to do something where they can't watch me closely. I
fussed a little the first day I had to go in there because I just
knew that all my new people were in the other room - so why were they
leaving me alone? Well, I settled down pretty quickly and after I
had been really quiet, for what seemed like a long time to me, they
came back! Yeah! Then we all went for a car ride (I didn't throw up
even once that trip!!) to the pet store to buy some good stuff. I
met a great HUGE black lab there and we sniffed and played for a
little while. He was really friendly and playful and didn't seem to
mind how I smelled (cats are just fussy about smells, I guess). He
was from a Lab rescue a few years ago and told me how lucky I was to
start out life being with good people. His person was amazed at how
confident I was, offering to play with such a huge dog - I am pretty
trusting, I guess! But maybe us rescue dogs just have a secret
understanding.
I have met SO many children, teenagers and adults. I love being in a
crowd, did you know that? I just smile and happily go from person to
person greeting them and let them pet me. There are so many fun
things to do here and so many great people to be around. I even met
some neighbor dogs - they didn't want to play as much as I did, but
that's okay. We'll try again. I did meet a friend's dog, Buddy Lee,
who is a one yr. old Boston Terrier - he was hilarious! He was so
excited to see me and we just played and wrestled till HE was worn
out. It was like playing rough house with my brothers again and I
loved it. He got tired before I did, though, so my people thought it
best to settle down and play again another time. I hope Buddy Lee
can come over for some play dates - I really liked him!
I have pottied outside every time - except once when the 9 yr. old
forgot that I should go outside as soon she let me out of my
crate...she let me walk around the kitchen for a while, get a drink
and play for a minute and then, well, ooops. Nobody was mad and,
well, she'll learn. Otherwise, I've only pottied outdoors - which
seems to make all my people very happy (they cheer and love me
when I do it) so I think I'll keep doing it.
I've been sleeping in my crate at night, and my girls like to sleep
nearby. This makes me very happy and I don't make a sound until I
have to go potty. I only got up one time during the first two nights
and last night I did not get up at all. I slept from 9:15 pm. until
7:00 am this morning! I was very tired from going to church last
night and meeting so many people, and running and playing with them.
I LOVED it there and they all loved me. I also loved sleeping
afterwards!
I hear that a vet visit and puppy classes are all coming soon too. I
am sure all those adventures will be fun as well. My people seem to
be trying to make sure I am safe, happy and learn to be a great
family member.
I am so glad you picked these people for me. I am, oh so happy in my
forever home! I think we will all be forever grateful for your
kindness.
Love always,
"Murray"
