#2419 – Red

3-year-old sable and white male

New to Rescue!

Although his foster family calls him Red for short, this guy’s real name is Redford, and he is just as handsome and charming as his famous namesake. He is a loveable, playful boy who likes everyone he meets: adults, children, other dogs, and even cats. He likes toys and really loves to frolic with the dogs at his foster home, however during play, Red just has to tell the world what a great time he is having (usually at the top of his voice). His foster family is working with him on this and is also trying to teach him not to jump on people. It’s a hard lesson for a collie boy who is so full of joy and enthusiasm.

Red likes to go for walks, though he is apprehensive about the door (and particularly the pet door), but once he gets outside he walks beautifully on his leash. He is fully house trained and knows the “sit” and “down” commands and is working on “come.” He is highly treat motivated and is willing to try to learn just about anything for a tasty morsel.

Red is settling in nicely at his foster home and will be ready for his forever home quite soon. Keep posted for updates as he continues to grow and blossom with his foster family.

Red is being fostered in Coralville, IA.
