#2405 –- Sasha

2-year-old sable and white female

New to Rescue!

Sasha is a very sweet, two year old, rough coated girl who weighs about 65 pounds. She has not yet been spayed, but this is scheduled for mid August. She will not be available for adoption until she has recovered from her spay.

Sasha is an extremely loving girl, but she is quite shy and timid until she becomes comfortable with her surroundings. She is particularly nervous around men and tends to back away when approached by a man. She is learning to trust her foster dad, but has already become very relaxed and loving with her foster mom. Sasha is great with children and is generally indifferent to cats. She is very fond of her canine foster sister, a ten year old female collie, and tends to rely on her in stressful situations. Often, in situations where Sasha is reluctant to go somewhere on her own, she will willingly follow her big “sis.” She seems to gain confidence from having another, easy going dog around.

Sasha is a very good girl, who is obedient and eager to please. She is fully housetrained, although she had done some submissive peeing in stressful situations. It is possible that this will stop after she has been spayed and when she becomes totally comfortable in her surroundings. She and her collie foster sister have been left alone with the run of the house without any incidents. Sasha has no desire to wander away from her home and if you tell her to stay in her yard, she will. She will also sit on command and is working on “down” and “come.” She walks well on a leash and likes to be groomed. She is a very quiet collie and rarely barks.

As Sasha has become more comfortable and confident, she is also becoming more playful. When she is off leash, she and her collie sister will run and chase after a toy or a Frisbee, although Sasha won’t actually pick up the toy. She just seems to like to run along. Indoors Sasha loves to cuddle and give collie kisses.

Sasha is looking for a forever family that will be patient and understanding with her. She will need time to learn to trust her new people and feel secure in her surroundings. She likes children and has been around kids ranging from ages three to twelve, though she would also be fine in a home that didn’t include children. She would love to have another dog around to play with and to help her become more confident. Most importantly, Sasha needs a caring home where she can cuddle and feel safe. In return, she will be your life long, loving friend.

Sasha is being fostered in Woodbury, MN.
