New to Rescue!
Shadow came to MWCR with his brother Indy, FKA Charlie. He may have been called Shadow because of the way he followed his big brother around, or perhaps it was a reference to his dappled, blue merle coloring. Regardless, Shadow is a happy, healthy, very loving, ten-month-old collie. Shadow is crate trained and house broken when kept in a routine. Although he is playful and loves a good romp in the dog park, he is also quite mellow for his age and is perfectly happy to lounge around the house with the two senior dogs in his foster home. Shadow is a bit smaller than some collies his age, but he is well proportioned and his striking good looks turn heads whenever he walks through the neighborhood or visits the pet store.
Shadow was raised with children and loves them, and they love him in return. In fact, everyone seems to be drawn to this charismatic little guy. He quickly learned the commands “sit” and “lie down” and is working on “off.” Shadow is still a puppy and sometimes he can’t stop himself from jumping up on people to show them how happy he is to see them. In spite of this, however, he is gentle and calm enough that he should be fine with young children as long as he is under supervision. Shadow gets along well with other dogs but has not been tested with cats. Although a fenced yard is always desirable, it is not absolutely necessary as long as he is exercised regularly on a leash. He enjoys visiting the pet stores that allow dogs inside, but must be watched carefully to prevent him from “shoplifting” a pig’s ear or other low-hanging treat!
Shadow has leaped out of his brother’s shadow and right into his foster family’s heart. This affectionate young collie is sure to do the same to you.
Shadow is being fostered in the Des Moines, IA area.
