#2420 – Sophie II

8-year-old female collie mix

New to Rescue!

Sophie is just about the sweetest girl you will ever meet. From the moment she arrived at her foster home, she has been gentle, loving and well mannered. She has been given the run of the house for up to nine hours without any problems and rarely even barks. She does occasionally need to tell her two, canine, foster siblings to settle down when they are rough housing, but otherwise she is the perfect, soft spoken, little lady.

Sophie, like Will Rogers, has never met a man (or woman or child) that she doesn’t like. She is friendly with everyone, including strangers, and was a real hit with the folks at her vet’s office. Sophie is currently taking antibiotics for a urinary tract infection and recently needed to have seven teeth removed, but she is well on her way to full health, and has no ongoing medical issues. Like many of us, she is a little on the plump side and could afford to lose a pound or two.

Sophie was reluctantly surrendered to MWCR by her owners who were forced to give her up when they moved from a home with a fenced yard to an apartment. It is obvious from Sophie’s happy, easy going nature that she was a well-loved member of the family.

Sophie knows how to “sit” and “come” and walks very nicely on her leash. She absolutely loves to ride in the car and is always ready to hop in and take a spin. She enjoys gentle brushing and did not object to having her nails clipped. When outdoors she likes to stay close to home, so she would not need a fenced yard as long as she is supervised.

Sophie is somewhat protective of her home turf when other dogs enter her house. She is less protective in the yard and might do better with strange dogs if they met in a neutral location. She thinks that cats are great fun to chase, but does not hurt them.

Sophie will turn nine in November and all she wants for her birthday is a loving, forever home. She is such a sweet, well-behaved girl that she would do well in almost any environment. She would be fine as an only dog, but she will get along with other dogs if introduced properly. She is good with children, but would also be a wonderful companion for a single person or couple. She likes to go for walks and car rides, but is equally happy to stay home and snuggle with her people. Sophie just wants to love and be loved, and the lucky family that adopts her will be getting the best gift of all.

Sophie II is being fostered in Ft. Atkinson, WI.
