Description:
Taylor is a big boy with a big personality to match. At 1-½ years old, he is a tall, lanky adolescent who weighs about 70 pounds. Taylor is a happy, fearless guy who loves to run and play with the other dogs at his foster home. Indoors or out, this big fellow just wants to have fun, and he is rarely seen without one of his stuffed toys in his mouth.
Taylor is fully housetrained and has had no accidents at his foster home. He has just completed obedience school & is an intelligent, eager-to-please dog that learns new tricks quickly & with little effort. When his foster family is out, he spends his time in his crate. Although he is good about going into his crate, this happy boy is always ready and willing to come back out and join the action. He is good with other dogs, but because of his size and exuberance, he might be a little overwhelming for very small dogs or cats. He is always excited to meet new people and sometimes shows his enthusiasm by jumping up on them. His foster mom is working with Taylor to try and curb this.
Taylor tolerates grooming well – even nail clipping and bathing. He tends to pull when walking on a conventional leash, but with a gentle leader he walks very well. He has good recall, but because of his youth and energy, he will need a forever home that includes a fenced yard. He is not a particularly vocal dog, though he barks a little during play and sometimes whines when he is first put in his crate.
At the end of a busy day, Taylor is more than ready to snuggle up with his person and give kisses. His foster mom describes him as a “cozy boy” at night.
Taylor’s ideal home would be an active one that would include him in their activities. He would be a great companion to jog with and would also be a good candidate for fly ball or agility. Taylor is still a puppy in an adult dog’s body and will need a forever home that will provide him with consistency and gentle discipline. Further obedience training would create a great opportunity for Taylor to bond with his new people. Taylor should not go to a home with children as he has shown some aggression toward children. However, another young, active dog would make a great playmate for Taylor and help him to burn off some of that puppy energy. He is a sweet, loving boy who is ready to bring many years of joy to some lucky family.
