#2311 – Willow

2-3-year-old tri-headed white female

Willow Post-Adoption!!!

New to Rescue!

This lovely, 3.5 year old, tri-headed, collie girl came to MWCR as a stray. She was in terrible shape when she first arrived: thin, frightened and covered with ticks. She had probably lived her entire life as an outdoor dog, because she seemed confused and unfamiliar with all of the routine indoor sights and sounds.

After a short time in her foster home, Willow has decided that the indoor life is definitely the good life. She has discovered that furniture is decidedly nicer to sleep on than floors, and she is fascinated by the tasty things that she finds on countertops and in the garbage can. Her foster family is working with her to develop better indoor manners. She is learning to “sit” and “shake” and is trying hard to grasp the concept of “no.” Willow’s foster family takes her outside regularly and she has had only one or two accidents since coming to them. When they leave the house, Willow willingly stays in her crate.

Willow is a very gentle girl, who loves people and attention. She follows her foster mom everywhere. She also gets along quite well with the other collie at her foster home, but she doesn’t like to share her food, so the two dogs have to be fed separately. Since she only weighs 33 pounds and needs to gain another 20, it is not surprising that Willow tries to keep all the food for herself.

In spite of being seriously underweight, Willow still has lots of energy and loves to take long walks. A three to four mile walk is really just a warm up for her, and when she returns home she is ready for a rousing game of chase the squirrel.

Willow is a very loving girl who would probably do best as an only dog, so she could get all the attention and love. She would make a great walking or jogging companion for someone, and she does not need a home with a fenced yard, since she is very agile and might try to jump it. Willow is ready for a forever family who will lavish her with the non-stop affection that she craves.

Willow is being fostered in the Milwaukee, WI area.
