Post-Adoption Update: September 10, 2008
Anne is loving her new home and her forever family is loving her back. She has lots of energy and her family takes her for twice daily walks that are getting longer every day. She is a very good girl in the house except for those times when she plays with her stuffed bear. The poor old bear takes quite a beating! Fortunately, Anne never mistakes the resident kitties for the bear. She is getting along beautifully with them and would love to coax them into a little play, but so far the kitties have declined. Perhaps they are reluctant because they have seen the kind of treatment that the stuffed bear gets.
In addition to her walks, Anne goes to the local ball field on a daily basis to run and play fetch. She is kept on a long rope, because she sometimes gets so engrossed in new things that she doesn’t always return when called. She is also going to obedience classes, primarily to get some additional socialization with other dogs.
Anne is doing well when left alone. Though she initially whines when her family first leaves, she quickly settles down and amuses herself with her Kong toy.
Anne is a happy, loving girl who is enjoying the good life with a family who loves her dearly.
Description:
Anne is a wonderful collie who is looking for a rather special home. She would definitely prefer an owner who is home most of the time, someone that Anne can spend lots of time with. She would also prefer to be the only dog and she should have a fenced in yard. She needs some cuddling and reassurance during thunderstorms but she is that classic dog who will stay by her master’s side through thick and thin. She obviously considers it her job in life to be a devoted companion, and she takes her job very seriously.
Ann was picked up as a stray and turned over to the MWCR group. She is absolutely housebroken, loves to travel, is very alert, and is the best watchdog anyone can have. She learns the house rules very quickly and is not destructive in any way. She is truly beautiful and receives compliments wherever she goes. Through a combination of circumstances, no fault of Anne’s or the people involved, she has been uprooted a few times over the last 4 months. She has handled it admirably, but now she needs and deserves to have some stability in her life, where she can be herself and count on her humans to be there for her.
No one knows how she lost her front leg, but she is more agile and able than most dogs with four legs. She loves to play, but also loves to be lazy. She’s easy to exercise because she’ll chase anything you throw—and sometimes she’ll even give it back!
She is very, very intelligent and will listen intently when you include her in your conversations, giving you eye contact the whole time. All she needs or wants is a human family to complete her life, and doesn’t seem to need other dog friends to be happy. Anne promises to be that perfect companion if included in all activities, such as travel, daily chores, watching TV or even painting the garage. She is not a “pesky dog” that demands attention. Of course, if she really wants something she will try to charm you by doing her “sit pretty” act.
This is one very special sweet girl, dressed in a white and sable coat
