| Description:
Okay, technically Buddy isn’t a collie, he’s a sheltie. But when MWCR learned how devoted he and his collie buddy Robbie were, we decided to bring them in together.
Buddy is a one year old, thirty pound sweetheart, who just loves to be babied. He is cuddly and loyal and likes nothing better than to be picked up and held in your arms like a baby. He and Robbie came to MWCR from a very loving home where their elderly owners doted on them. Sadly, the husband died, and health problems forced the wife to find a new home for her devoted companions. When Buddy first arrived at his foster home, he was a little nervous and shy and relied heavily on Robby for reassurance. However, once he became more comfortable in his surroundings, it was decided that the two dogs did not need to be adopted together. Buddy is fully housetrained. He has not been at all destructive in his foster home, though he does like to chew and it is important to provide him with appropriate chew toys. He loves to go for walks and behaves well on a leash. He also likes to be groomed and go for rides in the car. Buddy can be somewhat chatty and likes to let people know that he is guarding his home. He would chase cars and bikes if given the chance, so will need a fenced yard or a tie-out where he can be supervised. He is such a happy, playful, little guy that it would be ideal for him to have a fenced area where he was free to romp and play. Buddy does very well with cats, but doesn’t seem to like other dogs too much (except for his old friend, Robbie). When he encounters other dogs during his walks, he is quick to let them know that it is HIS path that they are walking on! He is very good with children and loves it when they play with him and make a fuss over him. Buddy is very much the lovable, slightly spoiled, baby of the family. Buddy is looking for a home where he can be the center of attention. His forever family could include men, women, children or kitties, but should not include another dog. This cheerful, well behaved, loving little guy will bring a lifetime of joy to the family that makes him their own. |
